Real Estate Automations - Scheduling Text Messages
I have a friend who mentioned his girlfriend thinks he hasn’t been giving her enough attention. That she misses his good morning messages from when they started dating and overall feeling that he cared.
Did he then decide to work to become a better partner? No, he came to me, to automate scheduling text messages.
Step 1. Shortcuts
To access our Shortcuts on the phone, start by opening the app. Look for it in the search feature as it comes preinstalled on iPhones.
Next, tap on the Automation tab at the bottom.
Then, create a new automation by clicking the plus button located in the top right corner.
Step 2. Select a Trigger
For this example, our goal is to text “good morning” at the beginning of the day.
While we can do fun shortcuts in the future like time automations to when you get certain emails or when you arrive at a location, we’re going to trigger with the time of day.
Step 3. Adjust the Conditions
In order to properly gaslight his partner, we set the time to 1 hour after sunset so that the messaging time changes slightly every day.
We don’t want to send messages on the weekend assuming that is when they sleep over (wouldn’t want to make that mistake).
And by running immediately, we no longer need approval to execute the shortcut.
Step 4. Create the Commands
There’s three pieces for the actual automation.
The first is a list of messages we want to send
The second is to get a random item from the list of messages
Finally, we send the message to the person he needed to send it to
